Ambrosia Maple Or Maybe Spaulted. I Can't Tell The Difference
ALL OTHER GENIUS IDEAS

This is either Spaulted or Ambrosia maple. One is caused by beetles burrowing in the live tree and the other is a result of a virus in the tree. To me the results look pretty much the same.
This is just a simple 2 panel glue up and as you can see I wasn't much concerned with book matching. The matching coffee table is currently in my living room. It was one of my early projects and I learned a lesson. This came out to only 3/4" or so thick and when you epoxy one side like I did moisture from the environment can only get in one side and not the other. The potential result is the wood is allowed to move (bow or cup) over time as the humidity in the environment changes. It may equalize and stabilize in a room that is well climate controlled but this has been in a shed for a few years.
If you're interested email me for a hell of a deal.
