Another epoxy adventure
EPOXY PROJECTS

I believe this was an offcut from the Walnut bench I did. Lots of sanding as always. All of this hardwood comes to me kiln dried but rough cut and very often cupped or bowed requiring a lot of work to end straight and flat. By the way, it's a trivet because the epoxy is good for up to 350 degrees. You can take a pan of boiling water off the stove and put it directly on this epoxy.
Epoxy was overkill for this but I thought the bark that was left after I knocked off the loose pieces looked really cool. I thought that it was tight enough that the epoxy would hold it on and even seep into micro cracks and bond it to the wood while preserving it at the same time. Apparently I was right. The pics never quite do epoxy justice but I was actually shocked at how stunning the bark section looked in the resin.
